JOB PURPOSE: Support of programmers in their day to day operation of duties. Successfully develop, implement and maintain customer scripts and IT systems. Including but not limited to research, review and development of import / export routines. Writing and maintenance of IT systems. Including computer programs, databases and 3rd party systems, while actively supporting optimal customer satisfaction.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Contribute in development, testing, rollout and maintenance of customer call setup process
• Communicate and work effectively with co-workers to provide the IT systems, programs and systems required to be successful in customer satisfaction and retention.

• Act as backup for the other MIS programmers.
• Carry out any other duties as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• In progress of a technical degree of computer programming or equivalent
• Ability to work harmoniously as a member of a team.
• Very good knowledge of Windows Operating environment, standard coding practices and procedures.

Boatcrazy launched in 2005. Previously development was outsourced but now we are taking it in-house. You will be the Lead Developer, the Big Dog, and no one to squabble with but me. You will do both front-end and back-end work with most focus on the back-end. Whatever necessary skillsets you don’t have or need improvement on I will provide the resources to advance your skills or subcontract those areas to other professionals. I don’t expect you to know everything, but I do expect you to be willing, able and passionate about learning what you need to advance BoatCrazy and yourself.

You need to be an expert in SEO, if you aren’t there yet I will provide the resources for you to become one which will help you down the road in your career. You need to thoroughly understand the importance of URL structure to SEO. Your diligent work to improve URL structure and other SEO elements will result in substantial growth in BoatCrazy traffic and revenues.

I strongly prefer full time employment but would consider a part time/independent contractor if you can dedicate more than 50% of your work time to BoatCrazy. I envision this as a 12 month commitment and is much more likely to be longer than shorter. In any case, as long as you perform well, I will assist you in your next career move whether that be employment or your own entrepreneurial pursuits. At the least, this would include a Letter of Recommendation and whatever connections or advice I could provide drawn from 30+ years of experience as a technology entrepreneur. If you have instant gratification junkie tendencies like me and like to see awesome results quickly as a result of your talent and creativity then we will be an excellent fit for each other. You need to be a self-starter and able to work well independently. But also willing and able to discuss alternative approaches, methods or technologies that will achieve goals for BoatCrazy.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Analyze computer system needs for client and management information and functional operations, to determine scope and priorities of projects, and to determine needs for system capacity and equipment acquisitions.
• 70% of time in this position is spent working on IT issues, including PHP and Linux maintenance, while the other 30% of time is actively spent in management responsibilities.

• Assist in the research and development of projects that will improve overall performance and efficiency. Work closely with entire team to complete work requests in a timely manner and promote fast call processing by developing system programs and uniform procedures.
• Offer guidance and support to the IT Staff in regards to call scripting, programming, data translation, database maintenance, applications development, and systems administration so that MC can meet or exceed quality control standards.
• Submit Monthly Reports on the status of the IT Department (successes, goals, projects, revenue, etc.) to the Vice President
• Attends senior management meetings to plan and implement the strategic initiatives of the business and to plot the future direction of information systems, reporting technologies, and telephony and switch capabilities to support the organization’s mission.
• Develop annual budget and ensure fiscally responsible budget oversight throughout the year for the IT Department’s expenditures.
